Red Herring...

Red Herring is a marvelous comedy that is a spoof on every film noire Hollywood murder mystery that was ever made in the 1940s & 50s. Beat cop Maggie Pelletier is hot on the trail of a murder in Boston in 1952 when she discovers that her FBI boyfriend, Frank Keller, who is also involved with his own spy network case, has interests in the same suspects where the facts overlap. What ensues is a hilarious interplay of characters played by a wonderful ensemble cast who work together so well that it doesn't take much to suspend belief and become engrossed in the melodrama down in the arena. Lynn Musgrave, a veteran director for Theatre in the Round, did a magnificent job casting the actors and wrangling the numerous set changes into a woven fabric of good story-telling and plain ole' fun. THIS Red Herring is a delicious meal for everyone.
